a nobody who took a gander at writing ASMR/RP scripts
Little Inkwell's Story
How I Got Here and My Writing Process
My name’s Little Inkwell.
You can call me 'Ink' or 'Inky' for short.
And here’s the story of how I fell into ASMR’s arms and got into writing scripts.
So…
2020 was many things… but I shall remember it as the year I first discovered ASMR.
With all the pandemic and work and life changes to adjust to, my body clock went berserk—simply, it was out of whack, to say the very least. So, I tried to research for ways to help me fix it. And I don’t exactly remember how, but research brought me to Youtube ASMR videos.
So in the last quarter of that year, I happily fell into the rabbit hole of tapping, scratching, and other binaural sounds etc.—yes, that side of Youtube.
I was eager to pick and play the videos of creative geniuses, watching their role plays—like actors on stage except it’s on my phone screen lol—and listening to all the tickle-y things!
And then on Christmas Eve…Youtube recommended a video that seemed interesting— the title said…
(ok I won’t say the title because it’s easy to find and you’re gonna easily find out who he is… so let me keep him anonymous)
…but it was basically a bf role-play video—so being the curious little lady I was, I clicked on it.
And boy, do I tell you was I hooked!
I kinda went through all the videos he made in the past two years in that one night (don’t judge me lol).
This VA was incredibly good in doing voices WHILE delivering top-tier ASMR sounds—gosh, like bruh… his voice gave me legit tingles!
I could literally feel his breath on the side of my face whenever he did those close whispers. And I felt so many tickle-y tingles on my head, nape and, one time, on the right side of my lower back all the way to my leg.
It was magic, I tell you! (Well at least for me LOL)
Anyways, not only did I enjoy the quality of his ASMR audios, I also enjoyed each STORY he brought me into with each RP script he voiced to life.
I was comforted, relaxed and lulled to sleep.
…And oh yes! His EAR MASSAGES were divine!! I mean I felt it on my ears, I kid you not. But I digress…
Soon enough, I got to finally ‘fix’ my body clock and was back to sleeping 6-7 hours a night.
It was then that I started thinking about writing scripts.
I've always loved supporting writers and other creatives in their chosen fields. I thought, 'Maybe I can contribute to their journey with my scripts. Why not?' Plus I thought that I would love to help other people find some semblance of relaxation and comfort with stories they can walk into with the ASMRtist/VA—and perhaps fix their own whacked-out body clock.
I took time to think it over—what with all my ‘work stuff’ and other ‘life stuff’.
But by January’s end, I had explored the other side of Youtube’s ASMR community—which actually led me to the VAs (such as yourself). And down I fell into another fun rabbit hole…and to finally making the decision to take a gander in writing ASMR scripts.
So, that’s it.
That was the day my pen name, ‘Little Inkwell’, was born.
Please do note that I have no hidden agendas.
I am doing this for the fun of it, not to get anything in return.
…which is partly the reason why I don’t have a lot of ‘public’ scripts… for now, at least.
My approach is very personal, so to speak.
I write scripts that are tailor-made for specific VAs I often listen to and their channel.
Oh, but please don't get me wrong. I am not claiming to be a great writer. (Although I write prose, it is technically my first time writing scripts.) This is just the current road I'm taking as a scriptwriter.
To give you a better picture, let me share my scriptwriting process (w/c I’m gonna condense as much as I can because if I don't, it's gonna be loooong—yep, I’m a wee bit of a crazy Type A personality)
—Step 1: Listen to VA’s audio vids to get the sense of their voice and style. (I listen to more than a handful of videos to ‘study them’.)
—Step 2: Think of (a) concept/s that can work for their voice and style.
—Step 3: Write the script (which takes me a long while because I try to be as detailed and creative as I can with the story and prompts)
—Step 4: Offer that script to said VA.
If they like it and want to use it, I’ll give them the script and the choice to make it exclusively theirs or public after they’ve released their video.
If not, I keep it in archive or offer it to another VA who fits the script’s character and feel.
(…and if that second VA doesn’t like it, I go to a corner a quietly cry myself to sleep …nah I’m just kidding hehe…that hasn’t happened….well, YET)
—Step 5: Happy cry because someone wants to bring that script to life
That's the process.
That's it. That's what I wanted to share.
If you made it this far.... THANK YOU for reading my story and writing process.
Oh! and YES, I am trying to listen to other VAs and explore their content. So YOUR channel might be next. You never know. ;)
